Aerococcus urinae and Aerococcus sanguinicola: Susceptibility testing of 120 isolates to six antimicrobial agents using disk diffusion (EUCAST), etest, and broth microdilution techniques Derya Carkaci, Xiaohui C. Nielsen, Kurt Fuursted, Robert Skov, Ole Skovgaard, Emilio P. Trallero, Reto Lienhard, Jenny Åhman, Erika Matuschek, Gunnar Kahlmeter, Jens J. Christensen * Aerococcus urinae appartient au genre Aerococcus qui comprend à l'heure actuelle 8 espèces : 5 espèces isolées chez l'homme: Aerococcus viridans, espèce type, décrit en 1953, A.urinae (1992), A. christensenii (1999), A. sanguinicola (2001), A. urinaehominis (2001) et 3 espèces isolées chez Aerococcus sanguinicola is a member of the bacterial genus Aerococcus and is a Gram-positive, catalase-negative coccus growing in clusters. This species was defined in 2001 and has since then been increasingly recognized as a pathogen causing urinary tract infections and also invasive infections including infective endocarditis. Aerococcus urinae and Aerococcus sanguinicola: Susceptibility Testing of 120 Isolates to Six Antimicrobial Agents Using Disk Diffusion (EUCAST), Etest, and Broth Microdilution Techniques Derya Carkaci1,2,3, Xiaohui C. Nielsen1, Kurt Fuursted2, Robert Skov2, Ole Skovgaard3, Emilio P. We conclude that Aerococcus urinae’s antimicrobial susceptibility for penicillin and cefurox-ime have a strong positive correlation using disk diffusion method. Based on the results we draw to the conclusion that breakpoints for penicillin established by EUCAST could be used to interpret susceptibility to cefuroxime and ceftriaxone. A. sanguinicola are catalase-negative, vancomycin-susceptible, gram-positive cocci arranged in clusters and tetrads, as are all Aerococcus species except A. christensenii (which is arranged in short chains).

No standardized susceptibility test methods or interpretive criteria have been proposed for this organism. This study reports the MIC results for 128 A. urinae isolates tested by broth microdilution. A. urinae has been isolated from urine collected from both males and females with a wide range of clinical conditions, including urinary tract infection (UTI), urgency urinary incontinence (UUI), and overactive bladder (OAB). A retrospective chart review was performed on 92 patients from whom 118 isolates of Aerococcus sanguinicola (n = 52) or Aerococcus urinae (n = 66) were obtained from urine cultures between October 2007 and June 2008 to assess clinical presentation and antimicrobial susceptibilities. Its genus was first described in 1953, with the first reported case of A. urinae in a human described in 1992 [ 1, 2 ]. Se hela listan på hindawi.com Answer: Aerococcus sanguinicola DISCUSSION Species belonging to the genus Aerococcus are isolated from the urine and blood of elderly patients with underlying illnesses, such as diabetes, heart disease, or urological conditions.
